1. Welcome from Chair Gay Jones

Chair Gay Jones noted that a quorum was not present, so no actions could be taken.

2. Reports

Gay Jones reported on the most recent meeting of the Cordova Community Planning and Advisory Council (CORPAC), and Joe O’Connor reported on the meeting of the American River Parkway Coalition. Jim Morgan reported on the Steering Committee elections, in which all candidates were elected.

3. Discussions

There were informal discussions of several issues, including the nextdoor.com website, the General Meeting, the Blow Lounge, the upcoming Ice Cream Social, and the future of the Riverstone Square property.

4. Meeting adjourned.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Rancho Cordova Library.

2. Treasurer’s Report

Kelly Cohen (Treasurer) reported that the balance in the BRECA checking account was $4,316.45.

3. Discussions

There were informal discussions of the draft Regional Parks Special Event Policy, the upcoming Folsom Blvd. Planning meeting on February 13, 2013, and the Parkway native planting project.

    1. Treasurer’s Report
      The Treasurer’s report was not presented.
    2. Parkway Coalition
      Gay Jones reported that Steve Flannery, the head ranger for County Regional Parks, will be retiring in March
  1. Old Business
    1. Mayhew Levee Project
      Jim Morgan reported that the upstream tie-in of the Mayhew-Gristmill levee to high ground is now in a list of authorized Lower American River projects.Gay Jones reported that the position of the natural resources specialist with County Regional Parks may be in jeopardy.
    2. Tree Round at Library
      Gay Jones reported that Library staff do not know when the tree round from the largest tree cut down from the Mayhew-Gristmill levee project will be put on display.

    1. Gristmill Gatherers
      Gay Jones reported that she had been informed that County Regional Parks is planning to make a sign acknowledging the Gristmill Gatherers for packing out the trash from the Gristmill site.
    2. Proposed Water Rate Increases
      There was discussion of the water rate increases requested by California American Water company and the upcoming meetings of the California Public Utilities Commission.  It was suggested that BRECA members attend the meetings.  Also, BRECA could put together a letter is there is still time.
    3. Calendar
      Gay Jones stated that she would like to put together a calendar of major BRECA undertakings for the year.  The following were identified:
      Steering Committee Elections: March and April
      Dedication  of new playground equipment at Riviera East Park: April or May?
      Ice cream social event: April to July?
      Community Newsletter: May and June
      Picnic: September?
      Membership Newsletter: September and October
      General Membership meeting: October
      It was suggested that this item be reviewed when more Steering Committee members are present.
