a. Treasurer

No Report this month

b. Membership

No Report this month

Gay Jones reported that there was no activity at CORPAC.

d. Little Library

Rene Hamlin reported that there has been some graffiti on the little library.  She also noticed that the neighbors have been keeping it clean by applying rubbing alcohol on it.

e. Metro Fire

Gay Jones handed out a Profile and Statistics card for Metro Fire for January 1-December 31, 2023

5. Old Business

a. Psynergy

Debbie Purvis reported that Psynergy set up a meeting/walk through, and she wanted to thank them for setting it up.  The tour did not include the locked part of the facility that is for the clients and staff only.  There is a new volleyball court being built for clients.  However, there is still no solution to concerns about their clients loitering and dropping cigarettesand trash around the neighborhood.

It was noted that the Psynergy was previously a senior citizens home and now is a mental health treatment program.  It is an open campus and clients can come and go as they please.  Rebecca Sloan, representative for Supervisor Pat Hume, was in attendance she was asked about the process for allowing a new use?  Rebecca said it is a State license and we may want to contact State Assembly member Josh Hoover. [Secretary’s note: the State Assembly member that represents the area around Psynergy is Kevin McCarty.]

A suggestion was made by Gay Jones that BRECA write a letter to Psynergy informing them that our goal is to be good neighbors, and we hope they share the same goal.  The letter would also suggest that Psynergy have a staff member come with large groups of clients on outings and model good behavior. Additionally, it was suggested that they could “adopt” Folsom Blvd and pick up trash on the sidewalk and in the landscaping.  We would also remind them that they are welcome to come to our monthly meetings.

b. Easter Egg Hunt (Communications/Website)

Gay Jones noted that the special event needed to get on the website, and we needed to notify the Webmaster.

c. ACE Erosion Control Project

James Adams attended a meeting about the Corps Erosion Control Project on the lower American River between Howe Ave and Larchmont Park.  He thought County Supervisors Hume and Desmond organized the meeting; however it was pointed out that it Federal Representative Ami Berra organized it.  James wants the Federal partners to do an on-site walk thru confirming the trees to be affected by the Project. Gay commented that we are waiting for response to comments on the environmental document, and then Paul and Gay will discuss next steps with Jim Morgan.

d. Trumark Update

James Adams reported that there is no new update on the Trumark property.  There is still discussion about buying the 20 acres in the flood plain and not buying the 20 acres above the floodplain.

e. Steering Committee Election

Nominations for Steering Committee candidates opened with the last meeting and concluded with this meeting.  There were no new nominees.

6. New Business

a. Sacramento County Infill Development Program

Gay Jones invites people to check out the County’s website on Infill Development:  If you sign up, you will get updates.

b. Outreach to Assembly member Josh Hoover

Outreach to Assembly member Josh Hoover informing him of our meeting time and dates [Secretary’s note: the State Assembly member that represents our area is Kevin McCarty.]

7. From the Floor

Rene Hamlin discussed the National Night Out/Safe Streetsnight.  This year it will be held on Tuesday, August 6th. Local Neighborhood Watch supports this event.  Some people in the audience had participated in it.  They held a Barbeque in the front yard and neighbors came and played corn hole and chess.  It was suggested that people should come to the next meeting with ideas of how BRECA can get involved with it.

The Steering Committee Meeting will be held at the Rancho Cordova Library on May 28, 2024.
