BRECA received an update from Supervisor Don Nottoli’s office on January 9, 2019 that we wanted to share with the community. We talked about this during our January Steering Committee meeting, but I want to share the contents of the email we received for the benefit of those who were not able to attend that meeting.
Below is a copy of the information that BRECA received from Supervisor Nottoli’s office:
Thank you for your correspondence earlier this summer regarding needed road repairs and the plans for repaving Folsom Boulevard, west of Bradshaw Road. I regret the delay in not getting back to you sooner, but have been awaiting more current information as to the proposed limits and scope for the work to be performed in the coming months.
It is readily apparent the pavement in this area is in a deteriorated condition, and it was hoped the needed repairs could have been accomplished this year. However, because a portion of the necessary funding was uncertain until late this summer the decision was made to postpone bidding the project until January 2019. Sufficient funding has been identified to assure that the repaving and associated improvements to the segment of Folsom Boulevard from Bradshaw Road to Butterfield Drive will be accomplished in the upcoming construction season.
A brief explanation of the planned work and timetable is as follows:
The paving of Folsom Boulevard from Butterfield Way to Bradshaw Road will be before the Board of Supervisors for approval next month, (January 2019) and consists of placing rubberized asphalt concrete over the existing pavement along with Americans with Disabilities Act compliant upgrades. New curb, gutter and sidewalk will also be constructed along the frontage of the property at 9509 Folsom Boulevard. Construction is to include base repair, raising manholes, and grinding sections of the existing pavement prior to paving. Work is slated to begin in May 2019 and be completed by July/August of this year,
Additionally, there are two other funded projects scheduled for the construction in the near future. One is a Folsom Boulevard sidewalk infill project, west of Butterfield Way, slated for the Summer 2019. This work is for installation of a sidewalk to fill an existing gap on the north side. A second project is scheduled for Spring 2020, this is the Folsom Boulevard Complete Street Project from Mayhew Road to Bradshaw Road. This scope of work is inclusive of sidewalk continuity, buffered bike lanes, pedestrian safety lights, landscaping and pedestrian signal upgrades.
Of further note, the County Department of Transportation is currently seeking competitive grant funding in the amount of $4.5 million to continue the complete street work on Folsom Boulevard beyond Mayhew Road to La Riviera Drive or possibly Starfire Drive. We should know the outcome of this potential funding by early next year and, if successful, the work will programmed in subsequent construction seasons.
Thank you for your interest in this matter, and should you have further questions or comments, please feel free to call my office at (916) 874-5465.
Sincerely,
Don Nottoli, Supervisor
