The letter recommends increases of 8.5% instead of the increase of over 40% requested by Cal Am. After some discussion it was agreed that BRECA would send a letter to the PUC supporting the DRA recommendation. - Riviera East Park Playground Equipment
Stan Mofjeld reported that Cordova Recreation and Park District staff have installed most of the new playground equipment in Riviera East Park, but need several days of dry weather to install the base. Rick Sloan reported that dedication of the equipment is planned for April 23, 2011. The Park District plans to mail a flyer to houses within 500 to 1,000 feet of the park. - Fire Reduction in American River Parkway
Jeri Langham reported that he had received a flyer regarding planned fire fuel reduction in the Gristmill section of the American River Parkway. The flyer indicates that dead wood, brush, and tree branches up to 10 feet high are to be removed from the area within 100 feet of the fence line. If taken literally, this would be an environmental disaster. It was generally agreed that a balance must be struck between fire risk and natural values. Several people have been communicating by e-mail concerning the proposal. Jeri plans to meet with Mary Maret of Sacramento County Regional Parks concerning this proposal. He will also meet with the work crew to educate them about the natural values of the vegetation. Jeri was asked to report back about the activities. - Items from the floor.
